PUBLISHED SS-TV 'THURINGEN' NCO'S BLACK TUNIC
Published in the excellent book by Ulric 'Inside the Allgemeine SS' the tunic has the whole of page 192 devoted to it.
Tunic was a US veteran bring back as is, and until recently was in a US collection, the tunic is a good size and bears no damage apart from one tiny hole at the side of the rear waist, privately sourced and finished in a medium weight Gabardine wool, jacket shows just light moderate wear and has a 'shine' in the high wear points rear tails, pocket flaps etc. Inside is fully lined in light Gabardine black cotton and has typical candy striped lined sleeves one of which at the top has the letters LHX (?) written in ink, an inside pocket is provided and a small name tag with the original owners initials is sewn to the neck just beneath the hanging loop. All original insignia is hand applied and remains in excellent condition, the Totenkopf tab being typically beautifully hand embroidered, the SS sleeve brassard is a fine example and has come away in one place, the tunic opening retains its early nickle silver tightly pebbled buttons, the shoulder strap has a RZM black silk tag with the date 1935 and is secured again with the early nickle pebbled button, to the left breast pocket a sports badge has been interestingly pinned through the tunic with no loops, a very desirable tunic indeed and with an excellent provenenance.
