REMARKABLE 16TH PANZER GRENADIER RFSS DIV. GROUPING!

A large and exceptional grouping to an SS-NCO in the RFSS, what his final rank was is ambiguous, contained in the grouping is a pair of SS-Unterscharfuhrer shoulder boards and collar tab set, of which the rank tab has been period converted from 3 pips to one, his last promotion on the first Soldbuch page has been scrubbed out for unknown reasons, the entry on page 3 shows a late promotion on the 20 April '45 maybe the reason for the converted rank tab? Group consists of his Soldbuch, dog tag, insignia, photos, awards, citations, EK2 signed by Max Simon who needs no introduction, IAB signed by Josef Maier who was found to be involved with the massacre in San Terenzo, a movie was made by the son of Maier regarding his fathers misdeeds in the summer of '44 in Italy, the RFSS were involved in several massacres in the Italian mountains,,it is now known that the subject NCO was involved in the round up of the civilians who were later to be shot! Insignia included is 2 Reichsfuhrer-SS cuff titles are both tunic removed, and remain sewn as they were on the tunic, the artillery SS-Unterscharfuhrer boards are worn ans have a red ribbon to each of the outer ends, rank chevron has silver tress, tunic removed doe skin bullion runic tab has some light oxidisation, mint flatwire sleeve eagle, doe skin rank tab period converted, 2 BeVo totenkopf unissued, cap edelweiss, lastly a British 6th Armoured mailed fist badge. Awards included are his EK2 on ribbon, a hollow back IAB and miniature, EK2 ribbon minus needle, 2 HIAG pins, also included is a WW1 dagger presumably carried into combat by himself and his father, with 1915 and his name etched on. Other documents beside the award citations include his SS-Sturmann promotion doc, a Marschbefelhl document, 2 POW documents one at capture (never saw one before!)and his full discharge document on release, his Arbeitsbuch, a blut and boden document and another post war doc, copy documents include several copy Ausweiss , interestingly one dated 1-5-1945 reassigning the subject to SS-Div.’’Handschar’’ Also a copy of Josef Maiers Soldbuch taken from the Italian movie, 20 good Photos in uniform including tropical hats most all noted on the reverses even the company and Zug are noted on several, a handful of scenic photos and post cards whilst on sick leave.
