SS-HAUPTSTURMFUHRER OTTO KROGER RGT.DEUTSCHLAND FIELD CAP (awards now sold)

Originally the cap came to the collector market as part of a large grouping from two WSS officers, the other officer being Wilhelm Kment, the two men were very close friends, Kroger was mortally wounded in the east in '41, Kment recovered the body and returned some of the personal effects to his widow, to be stored in hand carved wooden casket, Kment grew close to Krogers widow and they were later married, following Kments death the casket its contents and a large number of photographs came to market, originally I had the whole grouping which was eventually split, items offered here have been purchased back from a collector that I originally sold them to, Krogers Heer/SS field cap with flat wire army eagle, cockade removed and Deschler alloy war time SS skull applied, with the cap is a copy photograph of Kroger and Kment in Russia, Kroger is wearing this actual cap, sadly the wool has proved very attractive to moths and has been ravaged.
